With the birth of their first child, Noah, Ellen and Matt’s lives revolved around him and his daily successes, challenges, and dreams.  It was during this time that the inspiration for “Best Friends” was also born.

Three years later, when Ellen found out she was pregnant again – this time with twin boys! – those day-to-day occurrences gelled into the songs that became “Best Friends”.  Eight months pregnant, Ellen waddled downstairs each night with Matt to their home studio, where the songs magically and organically came to life.  “I think that the babies in my belly were fueling my creativity, because the songs just flowed out of us with such ease.  It was a really amazing experience,” Ellen says.

With their songs, Ellen and Matt hope to tap into the burgeoning world of children’s music.  “We’ve listened to our share of kids’ music, and it doesn’t all have to be so mind-numbing!” they say.  “Kids have the ability to appreciate all different styles of music.  And they can really pick up on the emotions that a song can evoke. In our house, we’ll go from listening to The Beach Boys to The Wiggles to Weezer!”
